Trick or Treat, Let's have a Giveaway!

The air is cooling, the leaves are turning and the pumpkins are making their way from the patches to our doorsteps. Fall is my favorite season of the year. I love all that fall brings; the rich colors, the savory scents, and the brisk autumn air. As a child I loved dressing up for Halloween and always looked forward to my mom's handmade costumes.

I know my sister (the bride) and I (the nurse) would have loved a personalized treat bag to carry on Halloween night to stash all our loot!

I can't decide which is my favorite; the Black and Orange Bucket Totes, The Spooktacular Eco Totes, or the Classic Black Trick or Treat Tote but one thing is for sure--whether your passing out candy in the front yard or sending your little one off to Trick or Treat they will hold some serious candy!

Since Halloween is right around the corner and we had 60 degree weather here in the Midwest today, I'm feeling like giving away a Classic Black "Trick or Treat" Halloween Tote! Leave a comment with your favorite costume you wore as a kid and I'll draw a winner on Friday.

  1. such cute stuff!

i dressed up as grapes one year. i wore a green leotard, green tights, and my mom made stems using a headband and pipe cleaners and green felt leaves. they blew up balloons and stapled them all over my leotard. ridiculous! :)

  2. I dressed up as Minnie Mouse. My mom made the red and white polka dot dress and I wore my ears that I have gotten earlier that year from Disney!

  3. Very cute bags!
My favorite halloween costume was when I dressed up as a deer with an arrow going through me. I wore a brown sweat suit and painted my belly white. I then had an arrow that was cut in half. We wrapped a coat hanger around my belly and attached both ends of the arrow to it so it looked like it was really going through me. The coat hanger was under my shirt and we cut holes in the shirt to pull the arrow through. It was a really neat costume. I looked just like a shot deer =)

Thanks for the memory.

  5. When I was 4 my mom dressed me and her little brother(he was 15) up as members from KISS! I know...classy right? The face paint was perfect and we wore KISS tee-shirts and tight black jeans. It was and still is my favorite Halloween costume ever!

  15. Precious Halloween fare!

My favorite costume, I actually made and it was a blue mailbox. It even had a slot on the front that you opened with a bag hooked to the back that you dropped my candy and treats in. Quite the forshadow as I married a letter carrier.

  17. Fabulous giveaway!

My favorite costume when I was little (and I would still be this every year if i=I could) was a CUPCAKE!! My mom cut a laundry basket to give it holes for my head and arms and covered it with foil. She then glued cotton fill to the top of it and my sweatshirt. My little hat was the cherry and I was covered in glittery sprinkles. FABULOUS RIGHT??!!

  18. My favorite costume as a kid was a ghost. I don't know why but I loved dressing up in the old sheet with holes cut out for eyes.

BTW, I have a post coming up soon with the decal on the van. I LOVE it. Thanks again.

  19. Wow, there are so many! Halloween is one of my favorite holidays...maybe it's the candy! My favorite costume was a "punk rocker." It was the cool thing to do in the 80's. I sprayed purple dye in my hair, wore a long ESPIRIT sweater over leggings and lots of bangled bracelets. I thought I was the coolest. My baby will be 16 months old at Halloween - is that too young to take trick or treating? I love it so much!

  33. I would have to say a witch. Don't see as many witches nowadays. Guess people don't feel it's PC to dress your kid like a witch. :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. you and katie look so cute in your costumes!

i was a california raisin for halloween in the second grade - what was my mother thinking?

    ReplyDelete

One year I was Madonna. Well, "G" Madonna. My parents did not approve of her skimpy style. Having daughters now myself, I'm glad it's Hannah Montana not the Material Girl.

  39. Aww your picture is so cute!

For Halloween one year my friends and I dressed up as crayons, wearing homemade costumes my grandma had made for my mom and her sisters years ago. They were still in great shape and it was a cute way to have a group dress alike!

    Love the black tote :)

  42. My mother made me clown costume one year. I thought it was so much nicer than the plastic costumes(which is what my floks could afford). Now that I am Mother I totally appreciate her hard work! I should tell her that. I love the pic of you and your sister. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I love Halloween!

  43. My favorite costume was as a punk rocker. I'm really a product of the 80's! The only problem was that my blonde hair had a blue tinge for about a week after! Love the Halloween bags!

    ReplyDelete
  44. We never had real "costumes"...just a big box of dress up clothes that we could put together to be whoever we wanted. My favorite was the year when I was around 6, so my brother was 10 and he dressed up as our preacher and I dressed up as the preacher's wife. I had a blonde wig just like her and my mom did my makeup!

    ReplyDelete
  45. My mom made me a yellow M and M costume one year, I loved it and won first place in our towns costume contest!

I love your halloween bags, they are adorable!!

    ReplyDelete
  46. my FAVORITE costume as a child was home-made. My grandmother helped me with it. :) I dressed up as "an old lady." I'm not sure where we found the curly (real) wig, but I wore an old lady dress, the curly wig, and the sponge curlers in my hair. Knee high stocking socks with old lady shoes. Oh, and the brightest uglyiest pink cheek makeup.
I WISH we had a picture, but my family wasn't big into pictures like me.
    HAPPY FALL!

  47. My favorite was a cat...nothing overly exciting, but I enjoyed it!!!

  52. adorable stuff! I dressed up as a black cat when I was little and it was too cute! I had on a black leotard, the tail pinned to my bottom, the ears and of course , the the whiskers! The funny thing was you could see my white panties hanging out of the sides of my leotard! It really made a cute picture! By the way, Sweet Mady's sent me here!

    ReplyDelete
  53. I think the year I remember the most would have to be when my mom let us pick our own costumes, and we went through our dressup trunk, and I ended up a rollerskating cheerleader. What fun I had! :)

    ReplyDelete
  54. My all time favorite costume was when I dressed up as a hunter, I had even painted on a full beard and mustache. Funny thing is I met my future husband for the first time that night while I was dressed up. He swears he could tell how cute I was under all the facial hair and camo!

    ReplyDelete
  55. A witch for sure. It was a handmade witch costume that my mom made and it was perfect!

  58. Cute bags!

I think my fave costume as a kid would have to be a witch... I had a long black wig and broomstick to boot! This was my first "store-bought" costume... I had been in ballet and I would wear my recital costumes as Halloween costumes each year! I've been a chickadee, a dove, an angel, and a carousel pony!

  64. Thanks for the visit! Cute picture & too cute bags!

One year, my mother made me a Hersery's Kiss costume! I'm wondering now if we still have it. My Sassy would love it! Wish I could find a picture to post!!

    ReplyDelete
  65. My favorite was the bumble bee outfit. Back when I was a child though, the leotards didn't have snap closures. My mother bought me a yellow leotard and put black electrical tap around me for my strips after I had it on - only problem was I couldn't take it off with the tap around me to use the little girls room!

    ReplyDelete
  66. My favorite costume was as a bride. Isn't that a cliche?

The pictures that crack me up the most though, are of my brother and I as hobos. Did anyone else's mom do this? The ultimate in cheap-home-made costumes! I suggested it one year to my kids, and my oldest son was horrified.... Mom??? You want us to dress like we are homeless??? That is SO not funny. *sigh*

    ReplyDelete
  67. Super cute!

I got talked into and believe I was dressing up as a harmless chicken...however, I now know that I was dressed up as Chicken Little because when little I was somewhat of a hypochondriac!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Cute pic of you and your sister.

I love the classic black bag. You can never go wrong with black EVAH!

My favorite costume was when I was a punk rocker. Yep the 80s, gotta love em. My bestie and I sprayed our hair neon pink, wore leggings, lace fingerless gloves and tons of awful costume jewelry. We looked terrible and we loved it. I still smile when I think about it.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I actually have two. One of my favorites was when I dressed up as Smurfette. I had blue stockings, the white dress and even a white hat. I alsoo painted my face blue! I was about 7. My second favorite was Lucy Little. She was a character on a cartoon from the
80's. I had the pink overalls with the oversized button as well as a tail!

    ReplyDelete
  70. I was a flapper like 4 times, so I guess that would have to be my favorite. My sister was a nun...I always wish I got to wear that costume, but she was younger and it wouldn't fit me.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I was totally the virgin mary one year. Blue dress, white head scarf and all!

  77. I love those bags! Too cute.

I didn't trick or treat when I was little. We moved around too much, so I make a big deal out of it for my boys. My favorite costume of theirs is a "Woody" costume I made for my youngest. He looked like such a doll. His big brother was "Buzz". I didn't make that one. Disney did. ha.
    Have a great day!

  78. Is it too late to enter?? But somehow I doubt the fashionably late will win.

My favorite costume as a kid was when I decided to be the wicked witch of the West. And my mother, who is just as uncrafty as I am, decided that adding green food coloring to her foundation make up would work. I wish I could recall how green my face was...

This is why I buy costumes.

  79. Hey Sarah - I love all the fun stuff on here! I HAD to comment on this one! My favorite costume was a skeleton! Sick huh?

    ReplyDelete
  80. I know it's cliche, but my favorite costume was being a princess. I really loved that tiara and I wish I could wear one now, of course it wouldn't look nearly as cute on a 23 year old, but still...

    ReplyDelete
  81. I love love love the Halloween tote!
    So here's mine:
My absolute FAVORITE costume as a kid was in 3rd grade. I was a -wait for it- zombie ballerina, with a broken ankle! I wore my favorite purple tutu (I wish I still had pictures of that Halloween, but still have some of the tutu) and wore some gory make-up. Since I already had a broken ankle, my lovely hot-pink cast completed my look! I was Fa-BOO-lous! Thanks for bringing back some great MUMMY-ries (I know, I'm a dork, but I can't resist Halloween, and Preppy Mama sent me)!
