A Facelift!

Same great site, same great products, but sporting a new look! The super talented, Summer, owner of, A Daisy Original, created a new header and background for the chick's blog. Be sure to check her out, she is terrifically creative, so nice to work with and extraordinarly fast.
I found her through Design Mom's silent auction for Nie Nie (a fellow blogger, wife and mother of 4 who was in a private plane crash with her husband).
How terrific that the chick was able to give to a good cause and update her look. Thank you, Summer!

I'd Like to Thank....

Flip Flops and Pearls! Thank you Daphne for the sweet award. For those of you that don't know her, I think she is the sweetest, busiest girl that I know. Between going to the ends of the earth for her children, playing tennis, preparing to move and sharing the love of Jesus I don't know how she gets up before the rooster and has such energy and joy. For those of you that would like to get in on her blog fun just send her an email (located in her profile) and she'll send you an invite. You'll immediately become hooked, just as I did. Daphne and I met in a funny way. She placed an order and I sent her an email with a stupid question about her order--I had a blonde (although since I haven't highlighted my hair in over a year I am nosomuch blonde anymore) moment--and she was so gracious and kind. From there we started emailing and have kept up via the bloggy world. So, thank you to my friend, Daphne!

In sharing the love I give this award to:

Rachel Eng--a great friend and AMAZING photographer in Iowa City.

Prep-E Girl--a fun blog about a newly engaged prepster and her life and style. She also has a great shopping (read: great deals) blog. Check it out too!

Mrs. Preppy--I promise that John Mayer without his shirt is not the only reason I give you this award :)!

One Fabulous Mom--from financial advise to blog-cations, broken arms and bloggy baby showers you don't want to miss out on E's fantastic blog!

Is It Naptime Yet?--I love to read her blog because we have so much in common--husbands going back to school and all. Plus she has such a great sense of style for her home that she freely shares with her readers, all while taking care of her two precious girls while her husband is in Iraq.

Polka Dot Square--a new friend that has precious, precious mommy and me aprons.

The Baby Luc--I found this pregg-o's blog via Colleen (who has already been given this award), and have read with fascination as often as possible. She is only 10 days from delivering her son but has documented the process with exacting detail--I've learned so much--and laughed my head off!

Pass it on, ladies! To honor your favorite :
1) Add the logo of the award to your blog
2) Add a link to the person who awarded it to you
3) Nominate at least 7 other blogs
4) Add links to those blogs on your blog
5) Leave a message for your nominees on their blogs

The Chick is Back!

After a restful and much needed little break the Chick is back and hard at work! Thanks to everyone who continued to place orders this past week--we'll be busy in the coming days--and can't wait to get started!

As promised, we've added Personalized Plates! I am so excited, I wish y'all could hear me squeal, these plates are SO COOL! For those of you that are making an effort to "Go Green" why not take the next step and ditch the paper plates for melamine plates? You'll be the envy of the neighborhood, your tailgating friends will be so jealous, and your preppy new plates will be great conversation starters! I can't decide if my fav is the funky zebra plate or the more classic vine plate. Let us know which you like best!

For those of you that don't know about melamine...here's the 4-1-1: Melamine is a high melting organic that is used to make thermosetting molding compounds. When cured under high pressure and temperature, melamine mouldings exhibit resistance to heat, water and chemicals. Meaning it is dishwasher, but not microwave safe. And they are BPA free!

These Prep-tastic plates are custom made, just for you, and shipped to you from the manufacturer, please allow 10-14 days for delivery.

Backpacks, Snack Squares, Underdogs and a Fisheye Lens

The title pretty much sums up what was an all-around amazing product shoot on Monday morning. We're all keenly aware that our lazy days of summer are winding down and will soon be replaced by the first day of school, parent orientation and lunch dates at the mini sized cafeteria tables. With this in mind, Rachel Eng, (my amazingly talented, photog friend) 4 little friends and I set off to a local elementary school with backpacks and lunchboxes in tow.

The goal: great photographs of our adorable models hamming it up with their new monogramchick backpacks & lunchboxes.
The result: stunning photos of our playful bunch with their preppy backpacks & lunchboxes.

Needless to say, the kids were not thrilled about having to stand still beside the playground but did an awesome job. After a few still shots, Rachel decided to let the kids go nuts and the pictures speak for themeselves. Doesn't it look like they were having a great time? By the end of the morning, I had done so many "underdogs" at the swing set I was exhasted and hot--despite the fact that the kids' energy was no where near depleted.

I cannot thank Rachel enough for doing such a great job wrangling working with the kids and for producing fantastic pictures for the website. If you are in the Iowa City area, or will be within the next year, you must book her! She does wedding photography, commercial photography, family photo sessions, newborn sessions, birth sessions, senior pictures, and of course photos sessions with kids. You will not be dissapointed. Rachel is so easy to work with and is a true master of her craft. Check out her website http://www.racheleng.com/ and her blog http://www.racheleng.wordpress.com/.

So, as you hit the stores in search of new school duds, let's not forget preppy backpacks and monogrammed lunchboxes so that all the other mothers will know you're exceedingly hip to make carrying those school supplies super easy.

These towels are h-u-g-e and great quality! Made from 100% cotton and measuring 35 inches x 60 inches this towel is one that will go from toddler to teenager with ease. Choose any of Monogram Chick's appliques and add a name to this superior white beach towel. These are perfect for birthday gifts, vacation surprises, or to take to the pool in the afternoons. Grab one for that little someone you love today!

Boo-Boo Winner

Thanks so much to those of you that entered to win my "mistake" and kudos to you for fessing up to some of your most memorable mishaps. Serious props go to ClemsonGirl, not only did she espouse the joys of c-sections and found multiple uses for caribeaners but she also taught everyone that Spic and Span DOES NOT work in the automatic dishwasher. Clemsongirl, I'll get your addy and this cute little pocket-less tote will go in the mail on Monday.

Thanks again everyone!
