Easy Breezy Cinnamon Roll "Cups"

As much as I don't want to admit this, I've become a real adult.  I've been a pseudo-adult; the pay my taxes & insurance kind of adult, for quite some time now.   But I've crossed over, entered adulthood in a real, official, get up early on the weekend kind of way.  Those of you with mini's are scoffing right now, you're no strangers to pre-dawn Saturday mornings, but hang with me.

Just because my internal alarm goes off before 7 o'clock every-freaking-day-of-the-week does not mean that I'm turning into a morning person.  I struggle to make these early hours my finest.  It does mean that Saturday mornings necessitate breakfast.  Previously, not a meal I typically visited on Saturdays.  I was much more of a late brunch kind of chick.   Since I can be found shuffling around the house with one eye half open, breakfast is best when made easy.

Enter my friends Pillsbury and Demarle.  It is no secret I'm a snob when it comes to the kitchen, I like nice kitchen tools, judge me, I'm okay with that.  You don't have to be a kitchen snob to make these tasty little "cups" you can use your metal muffin pans.  You could probably even add cute little mini muffin cup liners and be way cuter than me.  I'm okay with that too.

To make these super easy Cinnamon Roll "Cups" cut each cinnamon roll in half and press into the mini muffin wells.  I baked mine for around 8ish minutes.  I'm a glutton for punishment so I popped those fiery hot little cups out immediately and slathered on the icing.   They were delish as I lingered over them along with my coffee and Pinterest early one Saturday morning.

Much like a real adult might do.

New Year, New Look, Same Chick!

Wow!  I don't even know where to begin!  Since the last post, so much has happened.  The holidays, of course, came and went in a flurry and then January 12th came.  This was a day we anticipated and prayed about for so long.  A day we knew was coming, a day we had no idea what would hold, a day we knew our Father held in His hands (not unlike every other day).  It was this day, January 12th, that Mama Chick, had a brain tumor removed.

It all started 7.5 years ago.  Six weeks before Dr. Chick and I got married.  I remember where I was exactly, when I got the call.  My mom's call, telling me that her doctors had found a brain tumor.  Events unfolded and we learned that she had a meningioma; a benign tumor in the lining of her brain.  The plan was simple:  an MRI every 6 months to monitor the tumor and pray that it doesn't change.

Fast forward to October.  The MRI showed growth, the MRI showed fluid, the MRI did not show good things about the tumor.  It was time, the neurosurgeon said, to remove it.  Time to remove the tumor that sat in my mama's head, attached to the lining of her brain, just above her olfactory nerve.  The risks were many and we spent 3 and a half months praying, trusting, believing that all would turn out well.  We spent those months praying that the Great Healer would prevent loss of taste and smell as well as that He'd preserve her life.

January 12, 2012 was nothing short of a miracle and Mama Chick came out of surgery with her sense of taste and smell as well as a keen awareness of who we all are and what she'd been through.  Just 48 hours after surgery she was dismissed from the Neuroscience ICU to recover at home.  She was sporting 39 staples that ran from in front of her left ear through her hairline, ending with 2 stitches at her hairline above her right eye.

this is day she came home.  48 hours post brain surgery!

It has been just over a month since the surgery and her progress has been amazing!  Our Honey is here with us, just as fabulous as she was prior to January 12th.  We have so much to be thankful for and praise Him daily for faithfully seeing us through such a scary time.

this was taken last weekend!

So, now that I've brought my chickadees up to speed....what do y'all think of the new look?!  Amid the holiday's and Mama Chick's surgery, Monogram Chick received a make-over.  I love the new colors and site set-up!  Did you notice that even our "chick" received some freshening up?!  She's prep-tastic in her pearls, don't you think?  I mean, honestly, ever chick needs a little something special around her neck, right?

What's your favorite thing you've been wearing around your neck, these days?!

don't miss it jewelry deal

In recent years, I am all about some jewelry.  Kiki got me into it, really.  The perfect bracelet or awesome pair of earrings finishes off an outfit and can take a t-shirt and jeans from drab to fab, don't you think?

We have Kiki to thank for this one....I had never heard of Style Tryst which is sad because it is amazing!  Such a great, fun assortment of fashion jewelry.  The prices are reasonable, some more pricey items, some inexpensive but all of it is unique!

Today on Birmingham's Living Social, they are offering a "deal" with Style Tryst.  Purchase a $25 deal and spend $50 in jewelry or purchase a $50 deal and spend $100 in jewelry!

Check it out chickadees, there are some uber fun pieces....here are a few of my faves! I'm totally into bracelets and earrings this summer!

what do you think?

The much anticipated adult ruffle robes will be here at the end of the month...our waiting list is getting longer and longer!

I am contemplating adding child sized ruffle robes to Monogram Chick.   Monogrammed robes and wraps for adults among our top selling products however, not so much for kids.  I'd love your feedback....what do y'all think about a child's size ruffle robe hitting the MC site?  Price would be around $33 monogrammed.

Any and all input from my chickadees is much appreciated!

update on the teaser

Last week {I think, who knows, the days & weeks are running together} I snapped a quick photo of the massive amounts of paint we'd purchased and told y'all I'd give you an update soon.

I wish I had great before and after pictures to share, but not yet.   My house need not look like a construction zone for it's debut.  I am super excited to be painting the interior of our house (literally all of it...even the laundry room and it's trim).  I can't decide if I love my aqua island (swoon), the new magnetic chalkboard that Dr. Chick framed out on the back of a wall of cabinets that divides our prep area from our eating area in the kitchen or the fact that now all of the ends of my cabinets and the island are framed out with beadboard panels (thanks again to Dr. Chick--who is quite the trim carpenter!).

Pretty sure, we're going on 2 weeks worth of late night painting and cutting, but it is coming together!  Tonight we're putting the cabinet doors back on their bases (I can't wait to stop looking at my un-orderly tupperware--which begs for organization:  another project for another week.) and I plan to paint the trim in the dining room and kitchen.

Last weekend we called in reinforcements.  Kiki, Coco, Parker, my Mom & Dad ventured to VR for paint-a-palooza.  Without them I'd still be sanding cabinet doors and they would not be covered in 2 coats of oil based enamel.  While here, we ventured into the studio and I snapped a couple pictures of Master P exploring.

My goal for this weekend is to paint the rest of the trim in the main part of the house and get after my laundry room (a lighter shade of aqua than the island!!)  i'll be sans the extra hands but think we'll make quick work of it!

Sometimes I get lost in Tweet Deck.  I find myself reading tweets instead of working.  This morning, @hLr2013 "favorited" one of my tweets (about Southern Plate's Cafeteria No Bake Peanut Butter Bars...which by the way are delish and I could really take off on a tangent about my days teaching and school lunch but I'll save y'all the read :)).

Anyway, once she favorited my tweet and I clicked her name, then clicked over to her blog and read some of her posts (see how this becomes a time suck?!) I came across this little A-Z all-about-me and thought I'd do it too!  Thanks so much, Young Southern Prep!

blues & green = baby boy

So, my sweet web friend, Nina, will be birthin' a bebe shortly.  Every itty bitty newborn needs his name and monogram plastered across bibs and burps and roadies, oh my!  Recently, we sent Jack a little care package.  Check out Nina's schwag & while you're there tell her hey.

You'll notice in her pictures, one of our newest items...a monogrammed gown for newborns.  Available in pink, white and blue!
