I absolutely lurve these!  I've been sippin' outta mine for the last week and simply adore it.  It reminds me to drink my water.  Why wouldn't I want to sip in style, right?

Sweet Baby & Mama

I love, love, love to see photos of all the chickadees with their Monogram Chick goodies and this sweet Mama and her mini warm my heart!  Look at that precious little face and his proud Mommy in her monogrammed hospital gown.  According to this super stylish new mom, she was the talk of the hospital with nurses from different floors visiting her and her little man to see how chi-chi she was post birthin' her bebe.

My hot tea in the afternoon or morning coffee isn't quite complete without my Monogrammed Travel Mug.  I have to be honest, this is one of my favorite things that is somewhat dependent on the weather.  I tend to drink more hot beverages when it is cold and my go-to mug is, of course, my monogrammed mug.  I have a couple of inserts...blue floral with a green monogram and a brown floral with an orange monogram.  I'm a purist.  I like monograms.  I particuarly like the Empire monogram with my initials.  That is exactly what you'll find on my mug.

Have Y'all Tried This?

It is not secret I am not a morning person. It takes me quite some time to wake up and feel like all is right with the world. Part of my morning routine is coffee. I was elated to find out that Coffeemate brought out Peppermint Mocha Creamer permanently.  It made the morning coffee that much tastier knowing that I wasn't just enjoying this minty goodness for the holiday season.

This morning I'm thinking of straying from ole' faithful.  While perusing the December issue of Martha {"celebrating 20 years of holiday joy"} I came across an ad for this sweetness....

Serve It Up!

Since we moved back to the South I've started playing tennis again.  You remember my post about our big win (and the acquisition of the coveted bag tag).  I love these bags to sport my tag...specifically, I'm carrying the black floral backpack with an aqua monogram.

In addition to playing tennis we entertain.  All home matches are a chance to show up be hospitable to the other teams by serving them a fabulous meal.  One of my favorite court side dips is the Feta Black Bean dip served with Tostitos Scoops. 

Feta & Black Bean Dip
Serves 30 (This makes a TON of dip and can easily be reduced and still feed a small army) 
1/2 cup sugar
3/4 cup apple cider vinegar
3/4 cup vegetable oil
3 (15 ounce) cans black beans, drained and rinsed
3 (15 ounce) cans Shoe Peg corn, drained and rinsed
1 bunch scallions, chopped
1 bunch cilantro, chopped
1 (8 ounce) block feta cheese, crumbled

 

Whisk the sugar, vinegar and oil in a large bowl. Add the black beans, corn, scallions, cilantro and cheese and mix well. Chill until serving time. Serve with tortilla chips or corn chips.

Things I'm Loving This Fall

I adore fall.  Everything about it:  Brisk mornings, leavings falling, college football, my need to keep homemade soup on hand, warm coffee, mint tea, and anything pumpkin.  I thought I'd compile a visual list of all the things I'm loving this fall.  I'm a share-er, when I find something fabulous I tell all my friends, I phone my sis, I feel that everyone has to love what I've found as much as I do.  So in an effort to feed this need to share here ya go chickadees.....

Blogs.  Some of my favorite right now are: 

Darby {an oldie but goodie, she always has such depth and insight in her posts as well as cute photos of her "Rovers" and great recipes.}

The Idea Room {this is a new one to me and I couldn't be more thrilled to have found such a great site!  I can't wait to try the pumpkin chocolate chip muffins and to try some of the Photoshop tutorials Amy includes!}

Shoes.  It is no secret I love me some shoes. 

The black patent babies came from Target and the animal print are Amazon.  Lurve them both!

I don't own these but want to own these.....swoon.

ps-did you know they make Revas for the the chicklets?!  seriously?  don't know that $95 for a pair of little girl shoes is justifiable....imjustsayin.

Soup.  It's just part of fall.  

Taco Soup is a classic.  You can't go wrong with it's tastiness along with some corn bread.  Recipe found in this post.

Shrimp and Corn Chowder.  Made this for the first time at the initial hint of cool weather.  Even Dr. Chick enjoyed it :).

1 large onion, chopped {I omitted this & subbed onion powder}
1 lb red potatoes, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
1 (14-3/4 oz can) cream-style corn
1 (14-1/2 oz can) fat-free, low-sodium chicken broth
1 cup light cream or fat-free half-and-hslf
1 lb large shrimp, peeled, deveined
2 tbsp. peanut, canola or light olive oil
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper

In a large pot over medium heat, heat oil. Add onion, and potatoes. Cook until softened. Add corn, broth, light cream, 1/2 teaspoon of salt and 1/4 teaspoon of pepper. Bring to a boil.

Reduce heat to medium-low. Cook until soup is thickened and potatoes are tender. Stir in shrimp. Cooked until pink and cooked through.

We're Back!

After spending a glorious week in sunny Key West, Florida we are back in the studio today working away.  While we were here...

...Fall came to Georgia!  Look at this fantastic weather!

I &hearts shoes

I went to Target after leaving the Chick studio last night.  I thoroughly enjoyed strolling around with my fountain DC perusing the aisles before heading home to watch Glee.

I always scope the shoe section at Target; last night I scored!  

Lately, my go to pair of shoes are these gems (literally).

While in Birmingham last weekend it was all I could do to keep myself from taking home the Black Patent version.  On a side note, I was in Birmingham with Kiki for a Click Workshop Photography Class.  I cannot say enough about how great the class was!  I learned so much.  Being a photography junkie and having taken classes in college (pre-digital age), I thought I knew a good bit.  I feel like a new woman behind the camera!  I highly recommend the Click Workshop if you're in the Birmingham or Atlanta area.  Lori and Jody offer classes in both locations.

Anyway, after the class we hit the Summit and I did not go home with said patent shoes.

Which, brings me back to Target.  Last night.  When I stumbled upon these!

All About the Bag Tag

I played tennis in high school.  My dad's advise was to stay quiet and not talk to my opponent.  He said if I talked to them, I became to chummy and lost my competitive edge.  I think with age and maturity that competitive edge has blossomed.  I've been back into tennis for about 2 months now and have played on a USTA team in the evenings.  I quickly learned that on the tennis courts you're nothing without a cute outfit bag tag (or 10).  The bag tag is the mark of a winner.

Well chickadees, I'm sportin' a bag tag!!!  Our team won our division and last night we played the finals to earn a place at the state championship.  For those you of that are familiar with tennis and the scoring, Peggy and I played line 2.  We won the first set 7-5, the second set went to a tie breaker-we lost  6-7, then we played a 10 point tie breaker to decide the game.  We won the tie breaker 10-2, winning the match! All 3 lines were awesome giving our team the win.

Y'all, I'm feeling it today!  Those ladies ran my fanny all over that court...it was a blast!!  I have a  LONG way to go and a lot to learn but am having so much fun.  Here is a picture of the ladies from our team that played last night (there are 14 of us total and only 6 play each night) including our team member and great friend, Alicia , that cheered us on through it all.

Of course, throughout the match I used my Personalized Tennis Towel since I tend to sweat buckets glisten during play.
