Wow! I don't even know where to begin! Since the last post, so much has happened. The holidays, of course, came and went in a flurry and then January 12th came. This was a day we anticipated and prayed about for so long. A day we knew was coming, a day we had no idea what would hold, a day we knew our Father held in His hands (not unlike every other day). It was this day, January 12th, that Mama Chick, had a brain tumor removed.
It all started 7.5 years ago. Six weeks before Dr. Chick and I got married. I remember where I was exactly, when I got the call. My mom's call, telling me that her doctors had found a brain tumor. Events unfolded and we learned that she had a meningioma; a benign tumor in the lining of her brain. The plan was simple: an MRI every 6 months to monitor the tumor and pray that it doesn't change.
Fast forward to October. The MRI showed growth, the MRI showed fluid, the MRI did not show good things about the tumor. It was time, the neurosurgeon said, to remove it. Time to remove the tumor that sat in my mama's head, attached to the lining of her brain, just above her olfactory nerve. The risks were many and we spent 3 and a half months praying, trusting, believing that all would turn out well. We spent those months praying that the Great Healer would prevent loss of taste and smell as well as that He'd preserve her life.
January 12, 2012 was nothing short of a miracle and Mama Chick came out of surgery with her sense of taste and smell as well as a keen awareness of who we all are and what she'd been through. Just 48 hours after surgery she was dismissed from the Neuroscience ICU to recover at home. She was sporting 39 staples that ran from in front of her left ear through her hairline, ending with 2 stitches at her hairline above her right eye.
this is day she came home. 48 hours post brain surgery!
It has been just over a month since the surgery and her progress has been amazing! Our
Honey is here with us, just as
fabulous as she was prior to January 12th. We have so much to be thankful for and praise Him daily for faithfully seeing us through such a scary time.
this was taken last weekend!
So, now that I've brought my chickadees up to speed....what do y'all think of the new look?! Amid the holiday's and Mama Chick's surgery, Monogram Chick received a make-over. I love the new colors and site set-up! Did you notice that even our "chick" received some freshening up?! She's
prep-tastic in her pearls, don't you think? I mean, honestly, ever chick needs a little something special around her neck, right?
What's your favorite thing you've been wearing around your neck, these days?!
