Back to School

It's that time of year again. I've always loved it. Back to School. Even when I was a child I loved "Back to School" season. I don't know if it was the lure of new notebooks, pencils, and sharpies (I have an addiction to office supplies) or the excitement of change and a new year (I tend to like change--weird, I know) with a new teacher and the opportunity to make new friends. Or could it have been the shopping for the first day of school clothes? I think "Back to School" is just in my blood--for heaven's sake, I was a teacher for 5 years! Even as an adult, I loved the pre-service time of preparing my classroom, organizing lesson plans, new markers, and wide ruled notebooks.
I know the time is here. Not because I'm in the classroom (I thank the Lord for His blessings daily!) but because as I took Bailey outside this morning a busload of quiet children drove down the street. I know that same bus will be filled with excited, noisy children this afternoon--full of stories to tell mom and dad about their first day of school and it brings a smile to my face. Now, don't get me started on the fact that it is AUGUST 6th and kids are going back to school--we'll over look that for now as I think, with fond nostalgia, about my first days of school--both as a student and a teacher. Things have changed, I now stitch the personalized backpacks, lunchboxes and pencil holders that will be going back to school yet, I still feel the same pangs of excitement for those that will be sporting them on their first days.
Am I crazy or does anyone else love "Back to School" as much as I do?

It's always an exciting time! Those days in your classroom before the craziness begins are always so productive. I've never been able to keep up with it it once school started though!

I always loved "back to school" shopping! Picking out the huge box of crayola markers in "bold" and "tropical" colors was a huge deal. And I always wanted to bring the prettiest boxes of kleenex to class. Oh, we can't forget about trapper-keepers!

Confession:

Even though I have no children and am not in school personally, I have a SECRET love for school supplies and back to school time...

In fact... usually I buy myself a new bag, some notebooks/pens/pencils/etc...

LOL!

Glad I'm not the only one who loves it!

and P.S. your stuff is the greatest. really!

Each year I get excited about back to school and all that it holds. As a teacher and a mom, it brings a sense of balance, organization and newness to our lives and our calendar.

I liked it in theory - new clothes, new bags, new shoes, new markers, neat new binders with no bends and tears in them, the possibility of a beautiful report card which resulted in a beautiful payday....

but once I (or my mom) pulled up to the building, my mood changed. and fast!

Whether it is the teacher in me, my love for office supplies - or just the clean, orderly, sets of stuff all organized - I LOVE back to school. Every year I buy myself some new post-its just for fun, even though I'm not going back to school myself anymore!

I love brand new school supplies. I get so excited when Target has out their new selection! I am a 4th grade teacher, and even though school doesn't start for another 3 weeks, I've been back in my classroom getting it ready!!

I have an addiction to office supplies too, and it doesn't even have to be "back to school" season!
