The Stockings Were Hung by the Chimney With Care

When we were little (who am I kidding, we still do this) the first thing we did was empty our stockings. Before any of the Christmas festivities started my sister and I loved to sift through the goodies in our stockings.
Without fail, each year, we receive an ornament. I have been getting a silver cross ornament for years. It is always fun to see what Santa chose. Some years they are ornate, victorain designs and others are simple, traditional crosses. One day, I will have a tree decorated totally from Wallace silver bells and Lenox and/or Wallace crosses. (Dr. Monogram Chick has received a Wallace silver bell every year since he was born)

What better way to start or continue a family tradition than with a Personalized Polka Dot or Damask over sized stocking?

Two of my favorite things: damask and polka dots...could these stockings be any greater?! Santa won't get confused this year at your house, with these personalized stockings lining the mandle.

As Christmas approaches, it is fun to continue family traditions and create new ones. What is your favorite tradition or what tradition do you plan to start this year?

This post was very helpful to me! ;-)

How funny, my sister and I always went straight to our stockings, and we always had something "big" in there like jewelry or an expensive wallet or big gift card...then it was filled with all kinds of goodies on top of that.

I love Christmas!!!

Last year we started the tradition of drawing names for stockings. We each had 5 letters (I became Becca for the occaision!!) and we had a spending limit. We had to buy a gift that starts with each letter of their name. It was SO much fun!

Every year my son and I make Christmas sugar cookies and decorate them. Not the pre-made, pre-cut. Homemade, cookie cutters, icing everywhere..always great memories. It's a family tradition. When I married, my mother gave me the cookie recipe and cookie cutters as a shower gift. Girl, boy, or age doesn't matter. It's a fun bonding moment.

I love the last one on the right.

I need to get on the ball with some traditions. Maybe I have them but don't know it?

My parents had an X-mas Eve open house every year which ended a couple years ago so that might be why I'm feeling traditionless.

I love to see our stockings come out of the Christmas box too. For years, my great aunt made everyone in the family personalized and matching stockings. Occasionally when we all get together for Christmas (aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.) we get to see all of them together and it is quite something. One of my mom's cousins has taken over the knitting duties for the next generations. I'm so grateful we are able to keep this wonderful family tradition alive!

I love the stockings, and those traditions are great! The scarf below is to die for. I love that grey. Too bad I do not need one here in FL. Have a great weekend!
